Yesterday marked the third annual Carter Kronmal Memorial Classic here in Seattle. The CKMC is a memorial golf tournament, dinner, and auction in remembrance of Carter Kronmal. Carter passed away in 2010 at age 2 1/2 from neuroblastoma. According to the American Cancer Society there are about 600 new cases of neuroblastoma diagnosed every year in the US – it is one of the rarer forms of childhood cancer. Therefore, it is hard to believe that Carter’s father Dan and I went to high school together, graduated in the same class and both had sons that died from this cruel disease.
MassMutual / The Seattle Agency compassionately launched this golf tournament in Carter’s honor and all proceeds benefit Ben Towne Foundation. We are so grateful to their organization and team for their vision and generosity.
This year’s tournament took place at the incredibly beautiful Seattle Golf Club. It was a great day (the rain held off until the end!) and we were so thankful for everyone who participated. Dr. Rebecca Gardner, Clinical Investigator at the Ben Towne Center for Childhood Cancer Research, gave an inspiring presentation at the dinner portion of the event. Those of you attending our benefit will be introduced to her as well. And our dear friend Nelson was auctioneer extraordinaire!
Our huge thanks to Dan, Kathy, the MassMutual of Seattle Team, Jim, Jody, Nelson, the CKMC board, the Richards, all the contributors to the auction, contributing sponsors and everyone who joined us! Your time and efforts were much appreciated.
And if you are a golfer you should mark your calendar for September 2014!
(we will list the date under our upcoming events in the new year…)
