I awoke before my alarm on Saturday morning to torrential rain beating down on our roof. As I made my way east there was so much water on 520 it felt like I was driving a hydro! Apparently Mother Nature decided that the drought that we have had for the majority of 2015 here in Seattle was over. The last time I remember it raining this hard was….during the Eastside Chapter’s Highlands garage sale!
But a little rain could not damper the spirits of those who attended Accelerate the Pace. With music pumping and auctioneer extraordinaire Nelson Jay playing host, so many familiar and new faces made their way to the race grounds. There were bounce houses, food, vendors, a bake sale, cheerleaders and all kinds of fun activities for kids. Then before you knew it everyone was off…After the race itself ended I tried to pause for a moment to take it all in – all the incredible work that this group of beautiful women (including past members) have done throughout the years and leading up to this event. It’s been truly remarkable and we have been so grateful for their partnership.
Thank you Karen, Laura, Hillary, Heidi, Jaime, Holly, April, Lindsey, Sara, Carrie, Heather, Ayana, Erica, Mandy and your amazing husbands (who were all on hand to participate). We appreciative ALL the ways in which you and your families have come alongside this work. Congratulations on another great event!
Finally, thank you to everyone who ran, walk, volunteered or cheered at this year’s ATP! Keep your eye out for photos later this week on their Facebook page!
